2023 Regular Season Awards

Owner of the Year (Overall Team Success)

Jerry – Mason Minutemen

By the Numbers

  • Max PF = 2007.10
  • PF = 1864.88
  • W/L = 11-3
  • End of Season Rank (2022) = 1st
  • Actual End of Season Ranking (2023) = 2nd
  • Head-to-Head (vs Chafed Chodes) = Win (157.14 – 134.90)
  • Losses = Burrow of Brooklyn, Doughboys, Golden Gods

The Minutemen continue to be an absolute powerhouse in Shadynasty’s. The 2023 season marks their 3rd year leading the league in Points For. Ownership continues to take calculated risks to acquire top talent, and their team somehow continues to avoid major injuries. Despite yearly regular season dominance, the Minutemen have yet to get their first championship ring.

Chickasaw Chafed Chodes

By the Numbers

  • Max PF = 1938.68
  • PF = 1677.68
  • W/L = 12-2
  • End of Season Rank (2022) = 8th
  • Actual End of Season Ranking (2023) = 1st
  • Head-to-Head (vs Minutemen) = Loss (134.90 – 157.14)
  • Losses = Wimps, Minutemen

After a rough 2022 season, the Chafed Chodes bounced back in spectacular fashion in 2023. Ownership has shown a more aggressive approach in acquiring talent, and their beginning to see the fruits of their labor with their first ever playoff berth. With 12 wins in 2023, the Chafed Chodes now hold the record for most wins during a season in league history (prior win record = 11).

Coach of the Year (Optimal Scoring + Exceeding Expectations)

Caleb – Oakwood Golden Gods

By the numbers:

  • Max PF = 1822.80
  • PF = 1592.84
  • Start/Sit Efficiency = 87.38%
  • End of Season Rank (2022) = 7th
  • Preseason Projected Ranking (2023) = 12th
  • Actual End of Season Ranking (2023) = 6th

The Oakwood Golden Gods are an enigmatic team, to say the least. Their front office has shown resilience through the past couple of seasons, refusing to throw in the towel and embrace a tank despite its aging and seemingly underwhelming roster. While being often overlooked by the rest of the league, the Golden Gods coaching staff has had their team ready to compete week in and week out, with notable victories this season over two playoff foes – the Mason Minutemen and the Dayton Doughboys.

Delzeith – Gem City Titties

By the numbers:

  • Max PF = 1424.40
  • PF = 1247.64
  • Start/Sit Efficiency = 87.59%
  • End of Season Rank (2022) = 9th
  • Preseason Projected Ranking (2023) = 11th
  • Actual End of Season Ranking (2023) = 8th

The Gem City Titties (formerly, Gahanna Gargoyles) went through a major restructuring this season. The team was in a poor state, and was sold to new ownership mere days before the rookie draft. Things looked bleak, but the new coaching staff came out swinging. While trying to carefully navigate a re-tool/pseudo tank season, this team just kept finding ways to win. Their resume of wins include upset victories against the West Carrollton Wimps and the Oakwood Golden Gods.

GM of the Year (Most Improved – Draft Class, FA Signings, and Trades)

Zer – Dayton Doughboys

By the numbers:

  • Notable 2023 Draft Picks:
    • Devon Achane (2.02)
    • Jayden Reed (2.04)
  • Notable FA Signings:
    • Will Mallory?
    • Darrel Henderson
  • Notable Trades:
    • + Garret Wilson (- Drake London, Jaylen Warren)
    • + Jaylen Waddle (- George Kittle, Darrel Henderson, ‘25 1st)
    • + Jaylen Warren ‘25 1st, ‘24 2nd, ‘25 2nd (- James Conner, James Cook, ‘24 3rd)
    • + Tyler Lockett (- Tyquan Thornton, ‘25 2nd)

Consolidation has been the focal point of the Dayton Doughboy’s strategy in 2023. They were able to hit on a couple of early 2nd round picks this year. After claiming “TE’s don’t matter”, they immediately went out and snagged George Kittle, only to flip him after a short stint. The major improvements to this team are earmarked by the acquisitions Garret Wilson and Jaylen Waddle, both of which could be cornerstone pieces now and in the future.

Kevin – Chickasaw Chafed Chodes

By the numbers:

  • Notable 2023 Draft Picks:
    • Puka Nacua (4.07)
  • Notable FA Signings:
    • Xavier Gipson
  • Notable Trades:
    • + Marquise Brown (- ‘24 1st, ‘24 3rd)
    • + Sam Howell (- ‘23 2nd)
    • + Daniel Jones (- ‘23 1st)

The Chafed Chodes haven’t made a high volume of notable moves, but they have been effective in bringing in talent to fill areas of need. There was a glaring hole at QB prior to the draft, and this organization spent a good chunk of change to take shots on Daniel Jones and Sam Howell. And we certainly can’t ignore finding a top tier rookie WR in the 4th round of the draft.

Caleb – Oakwood Golden Gods

By the numbers:

  • Notable 2023 Draft Picks:
    • Aiden O’Connell (4.08)
  • Notable FA Signings:
    • Nick Westbrook-Ikhine
  • Notable Trades:
    • + Deebo Samuel, Courtland Sutton, ‘24 4th (- Davante Adams)
    • + Keenan Allen, ‘23 2nd (- ‘23 2nd, ‘24 2nd, ‘25 3rd)
    • + Gabe Davis, ‘23 2nd (- ‘23 1st)

This team had a lot of questions coming into 2023. They didn’t have their own 2024 1st, and showed no signs of ever trying to get it back, which showed they had no intention of tanking. Tiering down from an aging Devante Adams for Deebo and Sutton has turned out to be a fantastic move, and grabbing Keenan Allen to backfill the void left by trading a top talent like Adams was the cherry on top.

Brent – Belmont Bukkake

By the numbers:

  • Notable 2023 Draft Picks:
    • Jordan Addison (1.08)
    • Zay Flowers (1.09)
    • Tyjae Spears (2.07)
  • Notable FA Signings:
    • Josh Dobbs
    • Keaton Mitchell
    • Easton Stick?
  • Notable Trades:
    • + Kirk Cousins, Nick Chubb, Steffon Diggs (- Bailey Zappe, ‘24 1st, ‘23 2nd, ‘24 3rd, ‘25 4th)
    • + ‘23 1st (Addison), ‘24 1st, 25 3rd, ‘24 4th (- ‘23 1st (Stroud), ‘25 2nd)
    • + Christian McCaffrey (- JK Dobbins, Brock Purdy)
    • + Justin Jefferson, Derrick Henry (- Jordan Addison, ‘24 1st, ‘25 3rd, ‘26 2nd)

After an absolute trainwreck in 2022, the Belmont Bukkake were able to quickly turn things around. This team was plagued by old players (and their eventual injuries), and lacked much hope outside of the QB position. After trading for Cousins, Chubb, and Diggs prior to the draft, the Bukkake were able to nab two of the top rookie WR’s. Adding CMC prior to the season and then JJeff and King Henry mid way through has resulted in a top 4 finish on the year.

Donkey Brains (Poor Roster Management + Bad Team Performance)

Fuzz – West Carrollton Wimps

The Wimps fully bought into the 2023 rookie hype train, and had 3 of the first 6 picks in the draft – including the coveted 1.01. After selecting Bijan, Gibbs, and JSN, this team was looking like it may be a force to be reckoned with this season and beyond. But then… donkey brained trades happened…

  • Miles Sanders for a ‘23 1st.
  • Devante Adams for Sutton and Deebo
  • Gibbs for Olave
  • JSN + ‘24 2nd for Kupp and Mixon

Some of these aren’t “team killers”, but man, the age spectrum went far in the wrong direction. This may look rough, but the Wimps ended up #3 overall and has secured their spot in the playoffs.

Zer – Dayton Doughboys

How can the same organization be nominated for GM of the Year AND Donkey Brains? The story is in the numbers…

  • Max PF = 1975.30
  • PF = 1550.84
  • Start/Sit Efficiency = 78.51%

YIKES. To put it in a ranking perspective, Zer’s Max PF is #2 in the league. This is a team that nearly missed the playoffs and wanted to blame Jimmy for not checking his lineup instead of taking accountability for his donkey brained start/sit decisions.

LGR – Wright Patt Chairforce

This one is a bit more difficult to put hard data behind, since it’s largely speculation. The Chairforce were in a horrible position leaving the 2022 season. Their line up was aging rapidly, they were lacking draft capital, and they didn’t have their 1st rounder in ‘24. LGR decided it was time to embrace the tank – and boy did he. The Chairforce went full on donkey brains and tore this puppy down to the studs. But did they go too far

The Wright Patt Chairforce set a record for least number points in a season this year with 432. The next closest? 927!!!
